Lembram-se do filme "Shortbus"? Pois bem, o autor da banda sonora, Scott Matthew, actua no Frágil (Lisboa) no próximo Sábado, 19 de Maio, a partir das 22h30. Aí também será possível ouvir o seu trabalho mais recente, Gallantry's Favorite Son, descrito pela crítica pelos seus "temas luminosos tingidos de folk, pintado de cores acústicas e embalado em melodias de uma beleza tocante". É também dele a voz em Terrible Dawn, música do álbum A Montanha Mágica, de Rodrigo Leão, um dos proprietários do Frágil.

Houve samba e gaitas de foles, enquanto meio milhar de pessoas participaram na terceira Marcha de Luta Contra a Bifobia, Homofobia, Intersexofobia, Lesbofobia, Polifobia e Transfobia, que percorreu ontem as ruas de Coimbra ao fim da tarde. A concentração decorreu nos jardins do Mosteiro de Santa Clara-a-Velha, cruzou a Baixa e terminou na Praça da República perto das 20h. Os manifestantes eram, na maioria, estudantes da Universidade de Coimbra, incluindo muitos estrangeiros.

No Dia Internacional Contra a Homofobia e Transfobia ouviram-se na Escola Secundária de Pedro Nunes, em Lisboa, histórias dramáticas e reais sobre bullying. A secretária de Estado dos Assuntos Parlamentares e da Igualdade, Teresa Morais, recordou o caso de um rapaz de 13 anos que ligou "repetidas vezes para a linha do provedor da Justiça e pedia para ser institucionalizado porque era vítima na escola e porque, em casa, também não tinha apoio da família. A cantora Donna Summer morreu esta quinta-feira de manhã na Florida, depois de uma luta contra o cancro, avançou o site TMZ. Conhecida como rainha da disco music e ícone para a comunidade gay, Donna Summer tinha 63 anos. De acordo com fontes do site, a cantora queria manter a doença em segredo. Donna ganhou cinco vezes o Grammy e fez sucesso nos anos 70 com hits como Last Dance, Hot Stuff e Bad Girls. Nos anos 80, músicas como She Works Hard for the Money e This Time I Know It's for Real mantiveram-na na ribalta.

Darnell Young: Gay, Expelled, And Now Assaulted 18 May 2012 | 8:11 pm Darnell “Dynasty” Young was expelled from school for bringing a stun gun with him to stop the bullies who had been attacking him, and now the young man has been attacked by someone who recognized him from the media. Khyran R. Delay, 34, has been charged with battery following the attack on the seventeen year old Young. Delay is in jail currently.

Divorce Becomes Legal in Maryland Before Marriage 18 May 2012 | 7:18 pm It's not yet legal to get married in Maryland, but an appeals court ruled today that same-sex couples can already get divorced.
Maryland's Court of Appeals ruled unanimously that any Marylander legally wed in another state can get divorced in their home state.
The case centers on Jessica Port and Virginia Cowan, who were married in California in 2008 during the brief period when it was legal. Two years later they sought a divorce in their home state of Maryland and were denied.

Maryland OK's Gay Divorce 18 May 2012 | 7:38 pm You can't yet get gay-married in Maryland, but you can get gay-divorced. The Court of Appeals ruled 7-0 that couples who have a valid marriage from another state can divorce in Maryland. The case involved two women who were married in California and denied a divorce in 2010 by a Maryland judge. “A valid out-of-state same-sex marriage should be treated by Maryland courts as worthy of divorce, according to the applicable statues, reported cases, and court rules of this state,” the court concluded in a 21-page ruling.
